<p><img class="image-right image-inline" src="AviationFlyer.jpg/image_preview" alt="Aviation Flyer" />Deputy Director/Chief Operating Officer, Aviation Department, of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Susan M. Baer is the featured speaker at the York College Executive Leadership Breakfast hosted by President Marcia V. Keizs and The CUNY Aviation Institute at York College Thursday, March 12, 2009,12:00pm - 2:00Pm, in the Faculty Dining Room, Academic Core Building, 94-20 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., Jamaica, NY.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Baer is the first person to manage all of the airports for The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the first woman to manage any airport. She is responsible for five Port Authority Airports – John F. Kennedy International, Newark Liberty International, LaGuardia, Stewart International and Teterboro Airports, which last year handled 110 million passengers on 1.5 million flights. She managed LaGuardia Airport from 1994 to 1998, Newark Liberty International and Teterboro Airports from 1998 to 2007 and John F. Kennedy International Airport from 2007 to 2008.</p>
<p>Baer is a 33-year veteran of the Port Authority. She began her career with the bistate agency as a management analyst. In 1985, she was promoted from manager of the Public Services Division of the Tunnels, Bridges and Terminals Department to manager of the Lincoln Tunnel. The following year she was named manager of the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan, the world’s busiest transportation hub. She was the first woman ever promoted to those positions. She holds a bachelor’s degree in urban studies and anthropology from Barnard College and a master’s degree in business administration from New York University.</p>

    <description>Nancy Morejón is one of the most outstanding living poets of the Spanish language. </description>

<p>Born in 1944 in Havana to a militant dock-worker and a trade-unionist seamstress, Morejón graduated from Havana University, where she majored in French. She was the first Black woman poet to publish widely and be accepted as a professional writer, critic, and translator. Morejón is a recipient, among many other prestigious national and international Literary prizes, of the Critic's Prize (1986) and Cuba's National Prize for Literature (2001), The Golden Wreath (Macedonia, 2006), and Rafael Alberti Literary Prize (Spain 2007). Currently, she is the President of the Association of Writers of UNEAC (Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas Cubanos). She has also collaborated with prominent musicians, playwrights, and actors, and recently extended her artistic talents into the visual arts.</p>

<p>Fresh from an appearance at Hope Gardens in Kingston, Jamaica, Joan
Cartwright brings an international reputation as a jazz and blues
storyteller to the intimate, new Illinois Jacquet Performance Space
March 4 for the season's first Jazz at the Chapel concert. With&nbsp;the
York College Big Band, Cartwright takes Jazz from the West Coast of
Africa to the clubs of Harlem.&nbsp;Expect to hear a little&nbsp;Bessie Smith and
Billie Holiday along with Duke Ellington and&nbsp;Fats Waller and original
blues.</p>
