Individually the members of Aureole… Laura Gilbert, flute, Mary Hammann, viola, and Stacey Shames, harp… have active solo and chamber music careers, appearing as members and guests with such ensembles as Musicians from Marlboro, Orpheus, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Brandenburg Ensemble, The Bach Aria Group, the Brentano and Saint Lawrence quartets, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic.

With storylines including Frida Kahlo’s dramatic and passionate relationship with painter Diego Rivera, Rufina Amaya’s astounding singular survival of the massacre at El Mozote and Alfonsina Storni’ life long challenges as Argentina’s first great feminist poet.

We also welcome input from providers and others. Our goal is to obtain insight on how to improve quality and outcomes, as well as coordinate support for people who have needs across multiple systems. Please join these New York State Commissioners in a dialogue to discuss the needs and desires of individuals and their families and your ideas about ways to better serve New Yorkers.

The ensemble is a two-credit class and performs periodically throughout the semester The Jazz Workshop has performed at art openings, the CUNY Jazz Festival, Medgar Evers College, and Queens College. In April of 2006, the Jazz Workshop was featured in Weltreisen on the German television station ARD. The Jazz Workshop is also an integral part of the Jazz Forum series, co-produced by the Performing & Fine Arts Department and Performing Arts Center.
