Every Fall semester the Department of English holds an Open House in which they invite students and faculty. The Open House is always based on a theme to inform English majors about upcoming elective courses and to socialize.

The Open House allows students who are NOT English majors to discover that studies in Literature, Language, Creative Writing, and now Journalism can be exciting, fun, and endlessly interesting. There will be music, food, and a program that is related to the theme.

This year's Open House theme is "Gender, Justice, and Ethnicity in Literature, Language, and Journalism." The theme relates to three exciting new Special Topics courses being offered by the Department in Spring '11: "Chinese American Women's Writing," "How Gender Affects Language," and "The Role of Journalism in Social Justice."
