In Fall 2012, we taught a pilot course called The Art & Sound of Video Games. Given that the experience of playing a game is both visual and aural, both sight and sound needed to be explored in tandem in order to fully engage this medium that is now only forty years old. Not only did we team-teach and have to negotiate our teaching styles and attitudes, we also had to think about video games from the perspectives of two different disciplines: art history and music.

Over the course of the semester, we negotiated the landscape of interdisciplinary team-teaching and as a result were able to engage students in a way that would not have been possible with one instructor from a single discipline.

From now through November 21st you can test your financial know how through the “What’s Your Financial IQ” challenge. Topics covered in the challenge include everyday financial matters, investing, retirement planning, loans, and taxes. Each section of the quiz offers five questions. Individuals have sixty seconds to respond to each question until the correct answer and additional information is shown. It’s a fun and engaging financial education program and each quiz provides questions with increasing levels of difficulty.

At the end of each quiz, the employee will get their own personal score. Individual results are anonymous.

To add a little competition, there is a leader board that shows cumulative results statistics by campus, etc.

To participate in the challenge, just click on the following link www.wyfiq.org/q/CUNY and then click on the “Take the Challenge” button.

All employees from various classified and instructional titles are encouraged to participate!

Am I investing appropriately to meet my goals?

Should I consider changing my investment mix?
