The York College Student Athletics Advisory Committee, together with the York Athletics program, will hold an 80’s Dance-a-thon on Friday November 5th at 7:00 p.m. 50 percent of the proceeds from the event will go to the couple that can dance the longest, while the other 50 percent will go to "Samaritan’s Feet," an organization dedicated to distributing footwear to underprivileged children around the world.

The event, which is open to the public and will be held in the York College Gymnasium, will go throughout the night into Saturday or until the last couple is left standing on the dance floor. The cost is $20 per couple in advance and $25 at the door. Refreshments will be served. People who attend are asked to wear 80’s clothes, although many different types of music will be played throughout the evening.

York Athletics will also be accepting children’s sneakers as donations to Samaritan’s Feet. The sneakers must be new in order to be sent overseas. For more information on Samaritan’s Feet, visit their web site at www.samaritansfeet.org.

If you would like to reserve your spot on the dance floor, you can see Jessica Cherry, Assistant Athletic Director, in room 212 of the Health and Physical Education Building. She can also be reached at 718-262-5115 or at jcherry@york.cuny.edu
