Salt has physical properties and spiritual significance in many cultures. Its being indispensable to life physically and spiritually makes it a medium for survival. Salt has the heritage of a history that is cultural, religious, and political because it suggests wisdom and peace. Prof. Andretta's presentation will be about the history of salt and its influence on the ages including the literatures of past and present cultures. To the precious commodity of salt, Professor Andretta shall also relate particularly an aspect of her studies on Flannery O'Connor, and universally the striving of peace in our time.
