Jamaica for Sale, by Esther Figueroa and Diana McCaulay, challenges the dominant ideology of tourism as the “answer” to struggling Caribbean economies. Focusing on Jamaica, but taking the situations on other Caribbean islands into account, the film documents the “environmental, economic, social and cultural impacts of unsustainable tourism development.” Please join us as we watch this ground-breaking film and discuss the critical issues it raises.

Post-film discussion led by Dr. Kelly Josephs, Dept of English.

Refreshments will be served.
