- Bank Teller Certificate
- Tellers represent the front line of most banks. In addition to cashing checks and accepting savings deposits and withdrawals, tellers may have to perform specialized duties, such as accepting loan, credit, utility and other payments. Tellers are responsible for maintaining accurate records of all transactions and for preparing daily settlements of teller cash and proof transactions.
- Certified Nursing Assistant
- A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff. They perform duties, such as feed, bathe, dress, groom, move patients, and change linens. Certified Nursing Assistants must be licensed by the New York State Department of Health.
- Certified Administrative Professional
- Administrative Professional is a comprehensive title that encompasses a wide range of specific job titles and responsibilities. Moving from entry level to managerial level, sample job titles include: Secretary, Senior Secretary, Executive Secretary, Executive Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Office Manager, Office Coordinator, Office Supervisor, Team Leader, Director, Administrative Supervisor, Supervisor, First-line Supervisor.
- Home Inspection Certificate
- This program is approved by New York State and designed for students who are interested in conducting residential home inspections. These courses help students to become a licensed home inspector in New York State. The program prepares students to inspect the following areas of the home: structural, exterior, roof, interiors, insulation, ventilation, electrical, heating, cooling and plumbing.
- Medical Billing and Coding
- Are you interested in insurance billing for physicians, hospitals, or clinics? This certificate program provides the student with the skills necessary to accurately assign diagnoses and procedure codes for medical claim submissions and to bill various insurance carriers accurately.
- Medical Interpreter
- There is a critical shortage of trained Medical Interpreters. National guidelines will be requiring all health care facilities to employ trained Medical Interpreters with a minimum of 40 hours training. This course conforms to the National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care published by the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care and other generally accepted standards.
- Phlebotomy
- Phlebotomists collect and prepare blood and other specimen for laboratory testing. They maintain collection areas and equipment, and perform record keeping duties.
- Pharmacy Technician
- Pharmacy Technician is a job title for a pharmacy staff member "who works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and performs many pharmacy-related functions." In most cases, job duties include dispensing medication and other health care products to patients.
- Medical Assistant Specialist
- A Medical Assistant Specialist is an entry-level position into the medical field. The US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics recently reported that the fastest growing occupation for 2000 to 2012 is the Medical Assistant Specialist. This Summer York College and Borough of Manhattan Community college are partnering to offer an intensive 12 week, full-time (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) training program for 20 individuals. - Paralegal Studies Certificate
- Paralegals, also called legal assistants, assume much of the responsibilities once considered the sole responsibility of attorneys. Being a paralegal requires discretion, independent judgment, a strong writing ability and an analytic approach to organizing and reviewing materials. Paralegals may be retained or employed by a lawyer, law office or governmental agency.
- Real Estate Certifications
- Our Real Estate Program helps industry professionals stay on top in today's real estate market. Students who are new to the field can prepare for the Salesperson Licensing Examination. For the experienced salesperson, we offer the Real Estate Broker Licensing Examination preparation course.
- Patient Care Technician Certificate
- The Patient Care Technician is a multi-disciplinary technical worker trained to provide basic nursing assistant care as well as other skilled function. The role of the Patient Care Technician includes duties traditonally performed by the staff from several different departments such as nursing, phlebotomy, EKG and respiratory.
- Paralegal Studies Certificate

- Healthcare Management Certificate
- The Healthcare Management Certificate program provides healthcare managers with in-depth knowledge of management principles and the opportunity to learn leadership and management skills that they will be able to apply to jthe healthcare setting. The courses are also designed for individuals who are interested in transitioning to a position in healthcare.
- Secretarial Studies Certificate
- This certificate program gives entry-level experience, training and development in secretarial skills in order to obtain secretarial employment, be promoted into a secretarial position or to expand and update one's secretarial/office skills. Course topics include customer service, communication, keyboarding and computers. The program is 40 hours.
- Tax Preparation Certificate
- Earn extra money as a paid tax preparer! You don't have to be an accountant to do a simple tax return. Many people do their own, but in an area where you have a large number of people who don't understand the forms or maybe don't speak English, there is an opportunity to make some extra money during tax season. Under the guidance of our York College Professor Robert Clovey, these tax preparation classes will help you become IRS certified to prepare tax returns for the general public. Upon completion of the certificate you would become eligible to intern with Professor Clovey's annual free community tax preparation program.
- Handyman Certificate Program
- In collaboration with NHS Jamaica Inc. (Neighborhood Housing Services) Our short handyman program is tailored to suit the needs of those wanting to learn the fundamentals of the various trades. This program is taught through a combination of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction. This two pronged approach to training permits a young person beginning their career to advance quickly while becoming an ever increasingly productive member of a crew. Students will build confidence with the materials and tools commonly used through a mix of theory and practical experience. All courses start an introduction to the industry and trade history, health and safety, blueprint reading, and identification and proper use of tools. Some people want to learn a little bit of everthing to cater for home maintenance or similar; some want to specialize in particular areas like bathroom or kitchen installation so therefore will train in those subjects relevant to those jobs but there are people out there who want to be able to offer more than the next man (or woman) and therefore want to learn everything! A career as a Handyman gives you the freedom to provide a complete repair or refurbishment service to your customers. What better way of impressing potential customers than showing them that they only need one person to complete the work to be done, waving them time and money. You can enjoy the benefits of self employment or even employment as multi skilled tradesmen are very much in deman with maintenance companies, local suthorities, housing associations and many more.
- Bookkeeping Certificate
- This certificate program is for the beginner. Once students complete the certificate along with two years experience in bookkeeping they will be able to take the AIPB certification in a high professional standard and the only national standard for bookkeepers. Becoming a Certified Bookkeeper (CB) can increase earning potential, enhance professional status, and offer a decisive edge in any job market. Earning this certificate is not the same as becoming a Certified Bookkeeper, which requires two years of work experience and a passing score on a national exam created by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (aipb.org), but it will prepare you for an entry-level job in bookkeeping.
- Retail Sales Certificate
- This program prepares students to take the National Retail Federation Certification in Retail Sales and Service. The National Retail Federation is the world's largest retail trade association, with membership that comprises all retail formats including department stores, speciality, discount, catalog, internet, independent stores, chain restaurants, drug stores and grocery stores as well as the industry's key trading partners of retail goods and services.
