<p>The  Scholarship aims to honor these students and to help make their higher education  goals more accessible.</p>
<ol>
<li>1. Applicant must be</li>
<ol class="listTypeLowerAlpha">
<li>a high school junior,  or</li>
<li>a high school senior, or</li>
<li>any person entering an undergraduate  degree program* in the fall after the application deadline or the following  spring, or</li>
<li>a student in the first year of an undergraduate degree  program*.</li>
</ol>
<li>2. And applicant must be</li>
<ol class="listTypeLowerAlpha">
<li>a student planning to attend or  attending an educational institution in Connecticut or the New York City  metropolitan area <br />OR</li>
<li>a Connecticut or New York City metropolitan  area resident planning to attend or attending an institution of higher education  anywhere in the United States</li>
</ol></ol>
<p>*The scholarship can be applied to any  undergraduate degree program, which is defined as any post-secondary,  undergraduate degree program at an accredited college, university, vocational  school, or technical school.<br /><br />Note: from 2003 to 2007, the scholarship was  a one-year scholarship limited to Connecticut students. Beginning in 2008, it  was opened to New York City and Connecticut students, as set out above. Starting  in 2009, instead of being a one-year scholarship, the Milton Fisher Scholarship  is a four-year scholarship.<br /><br />The deadline for applications is April 30th.     <description>This award is in honor of Dr. Frank Pomilla, Emeritus Professor of Physics and a founding member of York College. He was the first chair of the original Department of Natural Sciences. He retired from York in 1992. With the assistance of his colleagues and friends, his children have established this award in honor of Dr. Pomilla’s love of and dedication to York College and its students. The purposes of this award are to recognize academic excellence and to provide financial aid to students who have made a commitment to teach science, especially physics.</description>

<p><a name="_GoBack"></a>The Dr. Frank Pomilla Award aims to recognize and provide financial support to a rising senior who has declared Physics or another Natural Science as his/her major with the goal of teaching science.  The award is $1,000.00 and it will be presented at the Annual York College Honors Ceremony.</p>
<h2 id="110be9af-08a5-47dc-9d64-5e6ad7acfdf8">Eligibility</h2>
<ul id="7f22d700-3c7a-480f-b08c-017c5d6a1953">
<li id="76d1cddf-6d48-4097-b5d1-dd5837882f09">
<p>Student 	must be full-time rising senior (at least 85 credits completed) with 	at least 60 credits completed at York College.</p>
</li>
<li id="399395c9-385f-4ba3-94cd-5239ca6cb641">
<p>Student 	must be a Natural Science major, preferably in Physics, with a minor 	in education.</p>
</li>
<li id="0c850cda-972e-44cf-a3ff-e61cf4713908">
<p>Students 	must have a 3.50 GPA or higher in the major at the time of the 	award.</p>
</li>
<li id="f3c2f075-ca7c-4c65-af31-a77b3c1354fa">
<p>Student 	should also have an overall GPA of 3.50 or higher or otherwise be a 	strong candidate with strong letters of recommendation from faculty 	in science and in education.</p>
