Scholar Academy

The Scholar Academy gives the York Merit Scholars a chance to work on projects during the summer and winter sessions. They then get to compete for the chance to present their projects at select scholar events.

2009 Summer Scholar Academy:

This August the re-envisioning of the Scholar Academy will have its pilot run. During the first two weeks of August the participating scholars will work on projects based on the theme: "The History of York College and its Place in Jamaica, NY".

2008 Summer Academy:

The 2008 Summer Academy, in addition to their Math and English classes, had the opportunity to take a trip to the Hayden Planetarium and to the NY1 Studio.

2007 Summer Academy:

The 2007 Summer Academy had 2 Sessions. Each session in addition to their Math and English classes took a trip to MoMA and both Sessions got to take a trip along with other 07 and 06 Scholars, as well as some York Faculty and Staff, for York Family Day at Shea to see a Mets game.

2006 Summer Academy:

In the Summer of 2006 the first group of Merit Scholars began their college careers through the first annual Scholar Summer Academy.
