York College Community Commemorative Quilt Committee

The York College/Community Commemorative Quilt Committee (YC/CCQC), established in 1998, is a volunteer community service organization. Since its inception, the Committee has actively supported projects that have greatly contributed to the collaborative relationship between York College and the members of the Southeast Queens communities. These initiatives include ongoing fundraising activities in the support of the York College Endowment Fund, benefiting various community outreach projects and student scholarships to York College.

A very important factor in attracting students is the College’s ability to offer financial support to worthy applicants aspiring to obtain a York College education. In recognition of this need, the York College/Community Commemorative Quilt Committee is pleased to offer scholarships of one thousand dollars each. Applicants should be high school seniors, high school graduates (including G.E.D.) or York College matriculated students. Other eligibility requirements for these scholarships include a satisfactory academic record, some documented community service and references. In addition, each scholarship has some criteria preferences that are attached with this application.

The awarding of these scholarships will take place upon the recipient's' enrollment as a full time student at York College and the fulfillment of any outstanding York College financial obligations. One half of the scholarship amount will be given in the Fall semester and, if the recipient continues to meet the requirements, the other half will be given in the spring semester.
Applicants for the scholarships should submit a fully completed application with the personal statement and letter(s) of recommendation from a community service organization.
