There they formed a peculiar society of Blacks, Indians, and Jews who respected and did business with each other. Some of these Blacks happened to settle on oil rich land and became incredibly wealthy--so wealthy in fact that the town soon became known as Black Wall Street.

In a mere 36 block section of town, these African-Americans owned and operated 600 thriving businesses. One of the most popular of these businesses was Old Lady Boleys’ eating establishment which is where our play begins. One Sunday evening the town’s more influential citizens gathered to have their pictures taken for the local newspaper in honor of the community’s 20th anniversary. Before the play ends, the entire community of Greenwood is completely burned to the ground in a 12 hour period, and a major Black economic movement is halted.

As a virtuoso, Mr. Blake has maximized the limits of the instrument through his diverse techniques - from classical fingering and guitar-like strumming to resounding slapping and vibrant staccatos, producing a full range of harmonies and rhythms on the bass in any composition. He has recorded with musical legends of the past and today, appeared at major festivals, concerts, and high-profile events throughout the world, and continues his lectures and teaching at clinics and forums.

The comparison is inevitable. How carries his father with him – imprinted on his physical being and locked in his soul.

It's in his looks, his joy, his music. No doubt, every time Tito Jr. walks on stage – he walks in his father's footsteps. He dances in celebration, throws his head back in pure joy and lights up the room with that oh-so-familiar smile. Tito Jr. is on a passionate mission. The younger Puente is determined to nurture the musical legacy left by his father. He refuses to let it become a distant memory; "He was just too vibrant, too exciting. There was magic in the music my father made. It made people happy, all over the world. My goal is to keep it alive, and in doing so, expose it to a whole new generation."
