A warm welcome to our new students and hearty welcome back to our returning students. I trust you all had an enjoyable and productive summer and are eager to begin classes. This is a time to reconnect and welcome each other back to the Aviation Institute, so be sure to make time to catch up with old friends and greet those who are new. The next few years will be an exciting time for the Aviation Institute. We are destined to grow and enhance our position in York College, CUNY, nationally, and even internationally.

The CUNY Aviation Institute at York College is committed to a transformative and enriching education, one that promotes a holistic development of our students through a delivery of innovative programs and services that are responsive to the needs of students. The Institute will address emerging issues and foster industry and community relationships to ensure a success aviation career and betterment for the communities in which they live.

Throughout the year, you may want to enlist help or support in any number of ways, so be sure that you seek out the many resources and services available at the College, through the Aviation Institute, your professors, support staff, administrators, and your friends and family. Remember that a key component to your aviation and collegiate success is proactively engaging in your education. I encourage all of you to take an active role in your education, whether it is joining a student organization, taking a leadership role, finding an internship, studying abroad or working on campus. You will discover that any of these activities contribute to both intellectual and personal growth and will prepare you for future endeavors.
