Welcome to York College of the City University of New York (CUNY).
As an incoming first-year, transfer, and international student, you must satisfy several requirements before you can begin classes in the Fall. On this page you will find pertinent information that will assist you in a smooth transition to York College. The intent of this page is to aid you navigate all the steps you must complete by the specified deadlines so that you can avoid delays and issues.
The New Student Orientation (NSO) is an event designed to introduce you to the academic, cultural and social aspects of student life at York College. The NSO will provide the opportunity to register for courses, and get the tools necessary for your success. You will also learn about various educational opportunities, how to access our services and resources, and your responsibilities as a student. Finally, you will meet other Cardinals and members of the York College family. NSO begins with a general assembly however in order to disseminate the appropriate information for each of our cohorts that will be in attendance, there are separate sessions for first-year, transfer students and parents.
We understand that some students may not fill the traditional profile and are older, working, married, a single parent, or attending part-time. Thus, it may be tempting to skip orientation. However, the NSO was designed with all students in mind. This is why the NSO is a multifaceted, integrative, and interactive experience tailored to all students with the goal of ensuring that you get the support you need so that you are successful at York.
As partners in your success, the professionals within the Division of Student Development are here to help you succeed. Transitioning into college may be a challenge for anyone and meeting those challenges need not be a solitary experience. We are here to help you successfully navigate this new terrain.
You will be engaged in a series of informative activities that will assist you to integrate to the Cardinal culture at York College.
Before You Register for Classes
New York State Public Health Law 2165 and 2167, and Title 10 New York codes, Rules and Regulations Subpart 66-2 (10 NYCRR Subpart 66-2) mandate that all incoming students born after December 31, 1956, must be immunized against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) before registering for classes.

After You Register
Activate your Yorkmail Email Account.
Your Yorkmail email is the primary mode of communication between the college and you. From time to time, York will send you alerts about your bill and other pertinent information that will aid in your transition to the college. To find out how to activate your Yorkmail, please go to https://www.york.cuny.edu/it/webteam/live.
Review and Pay Your Bill.
Your tuition due date is based on the date you initially registered for classes. To check the status of your balance, please refer to your CUNYfirst account. To find out when your bill is due for the Fall 2016 semester, please see deadlines here: https://www.york.cuny.edu/bursar/payment-due-dates0
IMPORTANT: To be eligible for New York State tuition and fees, you may be required to prove New York state residency. If there is a question regarding you N.Y. state residency and you wish to be charged in-state rates, you must complete a CUNY Residency form. The information you provide will determine if you meet the guidelines set by the City University of New York (CUNY). Failure to provide the required documentation will result in your being billed as a non-resident. Incomplete applications or missing documents will delay the processing of the application.
