The Department has both an academic and applied
focus. Our academic focused programs encourage students to continue
their studies in graduate school working towards the M.A., M.S.W., and
Ph.D. degrees. Our applied focused programs gear students for
employment after graduation as social workers, elementary teachers,
pollsters, or market researchers.
The Department has a strong research orientation, with many
faculties actively involved in funded research programs where students
are hired as research assistants or given specific training in research.
