About Us

The CRG-HPP was started at York College in the Summer of 2011. Conceived by professors in the School of Health & Behavioral Sciences with similar research interests, the research group is comprised of CUNY faculty, undergraduate and graduate students of the various CUNY colleges, community stakeholders and faculty and students of collaborating academic institutions.

Some of CRG-HPP's current research projects/interests include:

  • Future Care and Custody Planning
  • Knowledge, Attitudes and Behaviors of Social Workers and HIV/AIDS
  • Impact of Social Networks on Sexual Behavior and Sex Health
  • Race-Based Sexual Health Disparities
  • Impact of Technology (Internet, Mobile "Apps," etc.) on Sexual Risk Behaviors
  • Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) in Urban Environments​

Mission Statement

The Collaborative Research Group on Health Policy and Promotion's mission is to:  1) Design, conduct and promote collaborative, informative and rigorous research focusing on the critical public health issues facing individuals, families, and communities in the greater New York metropolitan area; 2) Disseminate  research findings to scientific peers, prioritized communities and other stakeholders; and 3) Support community-based organizations' efforts to plan, implement and evaluate their programs and services.
