Title III Grant

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the five-year Title III Grant at York College enables the college to better address new student learning needs and to expand its advisement and assessment services in the context of a changing student population and community demographics. York is currently creating an integrated set of programs seeking to address these issues. Over five years, the $2,000,000 award will make major strides in enhancing institutional effectiveness.

Expanding Student Advisement

To strengthen and expand advisement services for transfer and undeclared students, the College has hired a professional Academic Advisor whose primary responsibility will be to ensure that the advisement needs of these students are fully met.

Strengthening Academic Support

Aiming to significantly expand and fortify academic support services in order to meet the needs of York’s students, the College will hire a Coordinator of Evening and Weekend Support and an Assistant Director to staff the Academic Achievement Center.

Developing Instructional and Academic Quality

To strengthen curriculum and instruction on a college-wide scale, a Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) was established in 2007 to implement extensive faculty development coupled with a mini-grant program that focuses on engaging students in their learning.
