Ronald St. John Elected Vice President of CUNYAC
St. John was elected by his fellow athletic directors in the CUNYAC during the summer.
St. John enters his fifth year as athletic director and 23rd year as head men’s basketball coach. Under his leadership, St. John has continued to help the program grow. During the 2009-10 season, the Cardinals program had one of its best years in school history, winning five CUNYAC Championships en route to finishing third in the CUNYAC Commissioner’s Cup—an award given to the most successful program in the conference.
In his coaching career, St. John has led the Cardinals to three CUNYAC titles and nine CUNYAC Championship appearances. In 2009, St. John became the 59th coach in NCAA Division III history to win 300 career games.
In addition, St. John continues to serves on the CUNYAC Transfer Eligibility Committee, the CUNYAC Awards Committee, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional Selection Committee and serves as the commissioner for CUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field.
At the end of St. John’s two-year run as vice president he will become the next president of the CUNY Athletic Conference. Roy Anderson, the Athletic Director at Medgar Evers College, was appointed the president after serving two years as vice-president.
“It’s always an honor when your peers think enough of you to vote you in,” said St. John. “Roy and I are going to try to continue to move this conference forward. It will be a learning experience for me and it should prepare me for my time as President.”
