York College Mourns President Emeritus Bassin
The York College/CUNY community is in mourning following the death of its former president, Mr. Milton G. Bassin, who died on August 13, 2012. The president emeritus had been in failing health in recent years but still had a great love for the college to which he was devoted.

Department of Business and Economics
The Department of Business and Economics houses all of the majors in the School of Business and Information Systems except Accounting. This academically diverse and well-credentialed faculty are drawn from some of the most prestigious doctoral programs in the country, including Columbia, Michigan, Duke, and Cornell. The Department also houses the B.A. in Economics degree. Students are prepared for careers in Human Resource Management, Finance, Marketing, Information Systems Management, Aviation Management, and Entrepreneurship.

The Accounting faculty aims to provide students with sufficient theoretical and practical tools in the area of accounting to prepare them for the Uniform Certified Public Accountancy Examination, careers in public, private or government accounting, or to allow them to continue with graduate studies.

The CUNY Aviation Institute (AI) at York College was established in 2003 by a grant from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to promote high quality education and research for the aviation industry. The AI is headquartered in New York City and is located on the campus of York College.
