Just past midnight our time on August 6, NASA successfully landed its fourth mobile science lab on the surface of the planet Mars. The Curiosity rover (officially the Mars Science Laboratory) is a much more aggressive and ambitious mission than its amazing predecessors, however.

The York College/CUNY community is in mourning following the death of its former president, Mr. Milton G. Bassin, who died on August 13, 2012. The president emeritus had been in failing health in recent years but still had a great love for the college to which he was devoted.

York College is included in CUNY’s "2012 Science All Star Team" ad featuring recent grads throughout the university, who have received prestigious scholarship/fellowships to graduate programs. Kirk Haltaufderhyde, ’11, the York graduate featured in the ad, was a mentee of Biology professor, Gerald McNeil. Kirk was recruited to Brown University by Dr. Andrew Campbell (York, ’81) a professor of Medical Science at the Rhode Island-based Ivy League.

Geffard Named 2012 CUNYAC Men’s Volleyball Rookie of the Year; Williams Named Second Team All-Star

York College freshman outside hitter, Edner Geffard has been named the 2012 CUNY Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball Rookie of the Year and junior opposite hitter Bryan Williams has earned a Second-Team All-Star selection. The awards were announced just prior to the start of the 2012 CUNYAC championships.
