- York Alumni Volunteer at Local School
York College alumni recently teamed with New York Cares to volunteer their time to help in updating a school in Jamaica, Queens. York alumni have mostly supported their alma mater through annual donations of money and gifts. Mondell Sealy, director of Alumni Affairs at York College, recently thought of another way for Alumni to give in the community, and that was with their personal time.

York Alum Quentin Walcott,“98, an anti-violence activist and educator, was honored for his efforts to end domestic violence at the first–ever awards ceremony of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women.

- York Alum Completes PhD at Yale
Vanessa Crevecoeur-Ducas '07, has completed a doctorate degree six years after graduating from York College/CUNY with her undergraduate degree in Chemistry.
She was the first York student to win the UNCF-Merck Award. Fittingly, it was her York mentor, Chemistry professor, Dr. Ruel Desamero, who shared her graduation news with the college community.

Deborah Persaud, M.D., a York College/CUNY graduate of the Class of 1981, is being celebrated as part of the team that may have discovered a way to "functionally cure" AIDS in infants.
